So What is Aerial Yoga?

Aerial yoga is the art of holding yoga poses while being suspended in the air by a silk hammock that is securely attached to the ceiling. It’s quite the rush and may even sound a little scary to some of you.

Is Aerial Yoga Safe?

If you’re worried about injury or falling out of the hammock, there is minimal chance of that happening. The hammocks are designed to support up to 2,000 pounds and are held in place by carabineers and support chains. The highest you should be hanging is about three to four feet from the ground. Your certified yoga instructor will go around the room to make sure each student has their feet securely wrapped around the hammock and once they are wrapped tight, there is no way you will fall out. Hammocks are very easy to get in and out of and can even be adjusted to accommodate your height

Is Aerial Yoga For Me?

Aerial yoga can be for anyone even the curious beginners. It’s not as scary or as difficult as some people may think it is. If you’re already taking yoga classes, you should have no problem getting the hang of aerial yoga, however, if you’ve never done any type of yoga before it’s best if you contact an aerial yoga instructor to go over what they will be teaching in class and what your capabilities are.

  • Do not wear jewelry of any kind for obvious safety reasons
  • Staying hydrated is highly recommended to prevent headaches
  • Bring your regular yoga mat to place your feet on
  • Avoid soft drinks or caffeinated beverages before the session
  • Eat two hours before the session
